Payroll Specialist

Location: Dublin, OH

SUMMARY:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing and maintaining payroll and related records for all employees in compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and an understanding of payroll procedures, tax laws, and benefits deductions. The Payroll Specialist works closely with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure teammates are paid accurately and on time.

While payroll accuracy and compliance are the top priorities, this role may also provide administrative support to Accounting, HR and Talent Acquisition (TA) functions, such as assisting with sourcing activities or covering general administrative tasks when needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and enjoys working collaboratively across teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll (Primary Focus)

  • Process biweekly payroll accurately and on schedule using Paycom.

  • Review and reconcile timecards, pay rates, deductions, and benefit contributions.

  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including tax withholdings, garnishments, and direct deposits.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable wage and hour laws and tax regulations.

  • Assist with payroll-related audits, reconciliations, and reporting.

  • Prepare and distribute W-2s and other required year-end documents.

  • Respond promptly to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues with professionalism and confidentiality.

Administrative & HR Support

  • Provide general administrative assistance for HR as needed, including document management, data entry, and file maintenance.

  • Serve as a backup to the executive assistant for administrative duties when she is out of the office (e.g., handling correspondence, scheduling, or processing documents).

Talent Acquisition Support (Occasional)

  • Assist the TA team with sourcing candidates during periods of high volume or when extra support is needed.

  • Update candidate records and assist with communication tracking within the ATS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state or high-volume environment.

  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and wage and hour compliance.

  • Experience using payroll systems such as Paycom strongly preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Experience in the collision repair or automotive industry is a plus.
